SEMINAR IN INDIA
A Bible Seminar was held in Bangalor, India, September 9-14, 2013, conducted by Pastor Isaac Kallem with four churches participating.

Two 2-hour classes were held each day for a 6-day total of 24 hours. The largest attendance was 150 with an average of 115. Certificates of completion were awarded to 83 students.

Seminar subjects, “Bible Basics For Beginners” and “Bible Events In Chronological Order”, were provided by Earl L. Johns, “According To The Scriptures”.

QUESTION: Does God have a “dress code”?

ANSWER: Yes! Jesus (God) said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15) which include:

(1) “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God” (Deuteronomy 22:5).

(2) God considers bare thighs as “nakedness” — “And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach” (Exodus 28:42).

(3) “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array” (1 Timothy 2:9).

“Modest apparel” does not include plunging necklines (revealing cleavage and breasts), shorts, mini-skirts, bare backs, spaghetti straps, bikini or other skimpy clothing — yet today it is quite common to see even professing believers in local and TV so-called “worship” services dressed in this manner, not only in the congregation but also in the choir and performing “specials”.

How it must grieve the Holy Spirit to see the commandments of Jesus broken by those for whom He died!

Do you and your church love Jesus and keep, practice, and teach His commandments about clothing?

QUESTION: When was Satan cast down to the earth?

ANSWER: Satan was Lucifer (an angel).

According to the Scriptures, Satan (Lucifer) and his angels were cast down to the earth at some point of eternity (Revelation 12:3-4) before the beginning of “time”.

This took place:

* In eternity after the creation of angels by God (Jesus — the Word) who created all things — before the beginning of “time” (John 1:1-3).

* In eternity after the creation of the earth in a perfect condition, fit for habitation (Isaiah 45:18; Genesis 1:1).

According to the Scriptures, angels existed and witnessed the creation of the earth — before the beginning of “time” (Job 38:4-7).

* In eternity after Lucifer’s desire to be like God (Isaiah 14:13-14), he was cast down to the earth (Isaiah 14:12-17), causing the earth to be “without form and void” (Genesis 1:2; Jeremiah 4:23-26) — before the beginning of “time” (Genesis 1:5).

CREATION QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

(1) When was the earth created? The earth was created in “ETERNITY” (BEFORE the beginning of “TIME”) — AFTER the creation of angels. How can we know this? Because the angels were already created when they witnessed the creation of the earth (Job 38:4-7).

(2) When was man created? Man was created AFTER the beginning of “TIME”. The first man (Adam) was created approximately 6,000 years ago (about 4,000 BC) according to Genesis 1:26-27.

QUESTION: When was the first man created?

ANSWER: The first man (Adam) was created approximately 6,000 years ago (about 4,000 BC) according to Genesis 1:26-27:

QUESTION: What do you think of all the modern Bibles? Does it matter which version of the Bible is used?

ANSWER: Yes, it matters very much! Just because it is called a “Bible” doesn’t mean that it is the true Word of God! The “King James Version” is the most reliable that I know of. Always read any version of the Bible carefully, and it is wise to compare it with the KJV.

EXAMPLE:

John 3:16 (King James Version):

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16 (New International Version):

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus is the “only begotten Son” of God — but is Jesus the “one and only Son” of God? NO!

QUESTION: Why did the Wise Men go to Jerusalem after seeing Jesus’ star in the East?

ANSWER: Jesus’ star did not lead the Wise Men to Jerusalem.

The Wise Men went to Jerusalem because that is where they expected to find the newborn King of the Jews.

When the Wise Men left Herod at Jerusalem to continue their search for Jesus, they saw “His star” again and then followed “His star” to the house where Jesus was living at that time. . . . TO READ MORE, CLICK: “Jesus’ Star” under “Religious”.

QUESTION: What is the record that God gave of His Son?

ANSWER: I John 5:10-11:

10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made Him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of His Son.

11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

If a person does not believe the record that God gave of His Son (that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son), that person makes God a liar. That is, if a person does not believe in eternal security (i.e., believes that a saved person can lose salvation and, therefore, does not have eternal life), that person makes God a liar. QUESTION: Is baptism essential to salvation?

ANSWER: No, baptism is not essential to salvation. According to the Scriptures, salvation is a gift from God. READ MORE . . . .

QUESTION: Is there a command in the New Testament to keep the sabbath day holy?

ANSWER: No, there is no command in the 27 books of the New Testament for the church to keep the sabbath day holy.

THE SABBATH OR THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK?

Many churches worship on the first day of the week (Sunday). Some worship on the sabbath (Saturday). I worship on the first day of the week for these reasons:

The sabbath was a blessed and sanctified day (Gen. 2:3). One of the “Ten Commandments” was “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy” (Exo. 20:8).

“Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you [Israel] throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you” (Exo. 31:13).

God was speaking to Israel when He gave them the sabbath day as a sign between God and Israel.

Why do I worship on the first day of the week? Not one time in the New Testament is the church told to remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. Christ fulfilled the sabbath day as a holy day.

“In the end of the sabbath…” (Matt. 28:1).
“And when the sabbath was past…” (Mark 16:1).
“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth” (Rom. 10:4).

Christ met with His church two times after His resurrection:

“Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you” (John 20:19).

“And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you” (John 20:26).

After eight days would be the next first day of the week (Sunday); example: “…on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath” (Lev. 23:39).

Pentecost was on the first day of the week. The church met on the first day of the week to break bread and have preaching (Acts 20:7).

Every member of the Lord’s churches is commanded to lay by in store upon the first day of the week (I Cor. 16:2).

“Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ” (Col. 2:16-17).
The sabbath was a shadow pointing forward to the coming body of Christ, so there is no need for a holy sabbath today. Jesus (the holy body) has already come!

Please notice the past tense in the following Scriptures:

“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).
“The law and the prophets were until John…” (Luke 16-16).
“Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster…” ( Gal. 3:24).
“For if that which is [present tense] done away was glorious…” (II Cor. 3:11).
“…that which is abolished” (II Cor. 3:13).

Please read II Cor. 3:6-18.

“But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith” (Gal. 3:11).
“And the law is not of faith…” (Gal. 3:12).

The law cannot justify or make a person righteous. Christ ended the law (Rom. 10:4).

“For the promise, that he [Abraham] should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect” (Rom. 4:13-14).

“For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves” (Rom. 2:14).

“And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work” (Rom. 11:6).

“No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment… Neither do men put new wine into old bottles…” (Matt. 9:16-17).
These Scriptures teach that you do not mix “law” and “grace”.

I am convinced by the New Testament Scriptures that the churches are to worship on the first day of the week. Be sure to worship God by faith!

QUESTION: What is “scriptural baptism”?

QUESTION: The Bible concludes that the earth is 6,000 years old (by adding people’s lives from Adam to Jesus). How can the earth be only 6,000 years old? There are stars that are at a longer distance than 6,000 light years from earth and we see them sometimes at night. If the earth was only 6,000 years old, we could not see them but we do.

ANSWER: Thank you for your question – but the Bible DOES NOT conclude that the earth is “only 6,000 years old”!

The Scriptures reveal that the earth was CREATED (Genesis 1:1) in a beautiful condition (Job 38:4-7; Isaiah 45:18) at some point DURING “eternity” BEFORE “time” began (Genesis 1:5), after which the earth BECAME “without form and void” at a later point DURING “eternity” (Jeremiah 4:23-27) – the condition of the earth in Genesis 1:2 — BEFORE “time” began in Genesis 1:5. . . . QUESTION: Can a person go to heaven who dies believing that a child of God can sin and be lost and go to hell?

ANSWER: No! Jesus taught that “whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:15) and “everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Jesus taught, “He that believeth on him is not condemned” (John 3:18).

Jesus taught, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24).

Jesus taught, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life” (John 6:47).

John the Baptist taught, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life” (John 3:36).

WHY can’t a person go to heaven who dies believing that a child of God, saved by the blood of Jesus, can sin and be lost and go to hell? Because he dies making God a liar:

“He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of His Son: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son” (1 John 5:10-11).

Do YOU believe the record God gave of His Son?

Confess your sins to Jesus, ask Him to save you, and He will give you eternal life (Romans 6:23; 10:9; 10:13).

QUESTION: What is the “gift of tongues” and is it still in existence?

QUESTION: What was the name of the star that was over Jesus in the manger?

ANSWER: Contrary to tradition, there is no mention of “his star” being over Jesus in the manger.
